Prayer - The Best Defense

2 Marcheshvan 5776

Look up and see the bigger picture here. Listen to Rav Yehudah Richter's description of events leading up to the Henkin murders. Don't be fooled by all the calls by government officials for citizens to arm themselves, nor by the public announcements of government plans to ease requirements for obtaining a gun license. They don't have our best interests at heart. This, too, is part of the ploy to terrorize us - to make us feel helpless, vulnerable and afraid.

Don't play into the hands of those who are orchestrating this confrontation between Jews and Arabs so as to create a situation wherein they can justify swooping in to "save the day" and grab the prize for themselves. Do not look to the army or to the police or to the government or to the US or to the UN to save us. Trust in Hashem, His goodness and His mercy. Nothing can touch a Child of God unless He first gives His permission.

Geulah Girl has the right idea. She carries her Tehillim like a shield. As Rav Mizrachi said recently, every knife and every bullet has an address. Nothing is random, nothing is by accident. Believe it! Trust it! Hashem is in complete control of His world. It only appears chaotic, but in reality hakol beseder! We have not been abandoned!

Pray and pray and pray that out of the abundance of Hashem's mercy He might grant our request to be counted among the survivors who remain to greet Mashiach Tzidkeynu and bring up offerings at the rebuilt Beit Hamikdash - to know the joy of Yerushalayim as we've shared her sorrows.

  1. Prayer is our weapon, standing together and with Hashem. May Hashem protect us, please bring Geula

  3. Prayer are the korbanot of today. Korbanot didn't save the Jews from being exiled before, and words are not going to save us now.

The problem we have is INJUSTICE. We have a situation where one Shomer Mitzvot Jew judges themselves to be wiser or spiritually superior to another, because of a different practice or viewpoint. This is sinat hinam, and its what is keeping us in exile. All of the praying in the world will not change the situation.

They Jews are like a bunch of children in the car. The parent tells them, "If you just stop fighting, we'll take you to Disneyland." The kids keep fighting, but they continually nag and whine to the parents, "Please, please, take us to Disneyland."

Bad parents give in. Good parents repeat, "We told you, if you can show us you can stop fighting in the car, we'll take you to Disneyland."

This is not a time for prayer/korbanot - this is a time to STOP FIGHTING IN THE CAR!

  4. So what u are saying is jews should not know how to defend themselves ? Is there something wrong with a scholar who knows how use a weapon and defend himself and his family .. the patriarchs and jews of old knew this concept . We always split into 4 groups those who run away ,those who "negiote" people who defend and those are willing to fight .. all 4 positions give us the ability to choose the best option..

    1. No, I didn't say that. I'm saying that Jews need to understand that the most effective way to defend yourself is to pray with 100% kavanah and with 100% emunah. If you're short on that, by all means supplement it with weapons or self-defense tactics.

  5. this situation is replay of king david and the philishtim , fear makes it difficult for jews to pray .. who will stand up and be the "angry man of hashem" . That is what people are waiting for. A leader unfortunatly people have let peace make them docile and realy on prayer "we are not at that merit" unless u know how to introduce a plague to wipe out ur enemies. Then u can sit in the bais medrish and pray..

    1. No, it's not like the times of King David at all. It's like the time when we were enslaved to Paro. We have no recourse to power. All the authority and all the power is in the hands of Reshaim and Erev Rav. Hashem is the ultimate King and authority. Why does it not make sense to you to plead for His mercy? Do you not believe in God at all? Do you not believe He cares or can or will rescue?

See, you have a problem because you really believe the might of your own hand is superior to trusting in Hashem yitbarach. I don't know where you live, but there has not been a moment of peace in Eretz Yisrael.

  7. If anything this is the being cornerd at the yam sof .the people had 4 diffrent opionins on what to do . Yet hashem quieted them all. ,those who have fear or angst can not! pray with 100 % emunah or kavanah , because there is a seed of doubt about from where the turmoil or measure for measure punishments come from.its not about beliving in the power of strenthgh , but understanding the system as it is now will fail and fall.. full blackout . What will be left in its wake is carnage and hopelessness if u can not take care of basic feelings for survival u will fall...
